You may have heard it before and it’s true.

The only people who make money in network marketing are leaders.

There’s a saying that Alex Mandossian, a great direct response marketer, has that goes like this…

“You can build a $1 million company with the HOW, but to build a $10 million company you need the WHO.” Now I know what you’re thinking.
A $1 million dollar company would be just fine with me!

Right?

Well just go with me for a second…

Yes, you can make a GREAT income on your own using the “HOW” (developing your own personal marketing skills,
traffic generation, copywriting, etc).

But if you’ve been struggling to do that for quite awhile, try this hat on:

Even if you’re not currently leading a team of people or even if you don’t feel like you’re ready for that, you have to become a leader of yourself FIRST in order to make any kind of money whatsoever.

You have to get YOURSELF to work together as a team before you can lead others.

What do I mean by that?

Well, it sounds crazy and a literally weird, but a shocking amount of the time we literally self-sabotage our own success.

We all have different parts or personalities, if you will, inside us that all want different things, do things for different reasons, and often times not
only are they not working together but are actually in direct conflict with each other.

For example, there may be a part of you that really wants to go for it, do whatever it takes to reach
massive success.

But then there may be other parts of you that are holding you back.

Parts that may even be afraid of success or what it would mean. Afraid of the responsibility or that you won’t be able to fulfill your promises.

And then there are parts of you that tell you to stay in your comfort zone and play it safe. That’s too risky, what if I screw up?

It doesn’t seem to make any sense that we would sabotage our own success, but there are actually many parts of us that are actively thwarting the flow of money into our bank account.

Many people don’t have control of all of these parts.

And deep down inside, that’s what prevents them from having the confidence to lead other people or really commit themselves fully to something with the kind of all-in mentality that it takes to really make something work.

So before anything else, even before the “HOW” of running a business, you have to have a “meeting of the minds,” so to speak, within yourself and get all these different parts to align and work together.

An incredible paradox just occurred to me as I was writing this.

I just watched an interview BBC News did with an independent stock trader and they asked him what he thought of the latest plan to try and save the Euro.

Jaws around the room dropped to the floor as he flat out told them that he didn’t care if the latest bailout package works or not and that he goes to bed at night dreaming of another recession because if you have a plan, that’s when you make the most money.

He went on to say that people need to stop waiting around for the government to fix things and learn how to make money during a down economy instead.

If you look around, you’ll see headlines everywhere about how unemployment levels are at all time highs…

While at the same time, there has never been more opportunities and more how-to information on financial success and paving your own path than at any other time in history.

You’ve got detailed courses everywhere that cost less than what it takes to fill your car up with gas a couple times – a mere fraction of the mountains of debt that people go into for a college education – on how to make six figures from home using things like a blog and Facebook… miraculous modern tools that are free to use.

So why isn’t everyone financially free?

For most people, the answer starts with learning how to lead themselves.

You have to empower yourself first before you can empower others.
